Well well well, how the turn tables...
I could see this coming from a mile away
Should put the cat among the pigeons with the crazy price scalpers out there. I remember using one as a doorstop for more than a few years, and I definitely threw one away about 20 years ago because the jacks broke and it wasn't worth fixing
I always preferred the Drivemaster anyway, can't beat that JCM800 sound.

I’m surprised they didn't jump on this earlier, having seen the success various other makers have had with reissues.
It will be interesting to see how they are received.

Well, the real craziness seemed to start just over a year ago (maybe 18 months?) with the Bluesbreaker/Mayer thing so I guess it takes a bit of time to a) notice b) decide to do it c) work out and plan it all, test circuits etc and d) get it into production then shipped and ready to release. Seems about right for a large company and a large drop. Must have taken a bit of messing about to get the replica enclosures remade too.
If it was a small builder then getting something out quickly is easier.

Fair point. I must admit i was oblivious to the Mayer connection (i like to imagine that guy doesn’t exist), but regardless of that haven’t these pedals been getting increasingly sought after for at least 5-10 years?johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 1:15 amIf it was a small builder then getting something out quickly is easier.
I may well be out of touch!
How did yours go as a doorstop? Did the door sound any better?

It was pretty good...true bypass is helpful in that situation

BUT WHAT ABOUT MY INVESTMENT?
On a more serious note, this news might encourage me to dig out my old Guvnor and give it another try.
I can't seem to dial it in for some reason.

This is cool and I’ve always been a fan of these pedals but I doubt they’ll sell well. I hope I’m wrong.
I’ve had them all except the BB. Maybe I’ll finally get one.

Yeah, I feel like the popularity and rarity of the original is what spawned all the boutique clones, and now everyone who would want one of these either has a clone or an original.
I'm sure we'll be subjected to many comparison videos where the conclusion is that the originals have some sort of magic that justifies the stupid prices on them (which they don't).

Re: Well well well, how the turn tables...
by today's standards, they're pretty large for an OD pedal.
Guv'nor vs DriveMaster: Going by the originals I had, the DM is a bit more scooped in the mids but they are close. I prefer the Guv. I'd actually love to have a new one but last time I looked I saw the OGs dropped from $400 to around $175 on CL. The new ones are $250 so idk...
*Edit I see they haven't gone down on Reverb...
My ShredMaster was noisy as hell if the gain was past noon, I found it unusable. There had to be an issue but I had no idea at the time.

Re: Well well well, how the turn tables...
My first thought too. Somehow I doubt people will make the kind of space for these that people make for the oversized goofy EHX stuff.OffYourFace wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 12:59 pmby today's standards, they're pretty large for an OD pedal.
Admittedly curious about the Guv'nor since it's the people behind the amp making the pedal so I have to imagine they "got" that sound better than anyone else. My understanding is the smaller more recent ones can be fairly easily modified to sound like these ones though, so guess time will tell if it's worth it or not.

Count me underwhelmed at that price. But I’ve wanted a shredmaster as a teenager since discovering it was “that” Radiohead sound.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Funny you say that! When I first read the Reverb email announcement about the pedals, not joke, Radiohead's Airbag was instantly stuck in my headsal paradise wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 12:33 amCount me underwhelmed at that price. I remember a friend having one though, and it just sounded super compressed.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 2:10 amFunny you say that! I think it’s similar to the Nevermind sound. Give a DS-1 major label funding for studio, talented producer & top mastering. Hey presto! Cheap pedals sound amazing.

And not to mention Jonny Greenwood himself. I would bet that he's got a better for that kind of thing (producing/recording, EQ, etc.) than Kurt ever would have...sal paradise wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 2:18 amI remember a friend having one though, and it just sounded super compressed.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 2:10 amFunny you say that!
