Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
Just stumbled on this new release by chance - I had no idea it was in the works.
It will be interesting to see how it’s received. My initial feeling is that it might struggle, although i have no doubt it is up to the usual Waza quality standards.
Do any of you see one of these in your future?
PS - i LOVE the general aesthetic!

Re: Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
I'd love to try one - I've been on a big boost hunt since getting the '67 Bassman. All of the ODs I use with my Twin just don't cut it with the Bassman, but boosting it into OD is just glorious.
I didn't know the Space Echo and CE-1 had coveted preamps to be honest, but I'd like to try them. Nothing yet has beat my KTR for clean boost in my rig, I think the mid hump is critical for how I like to sound.

Yeah the Boss demo video popped up today, first I knew of it too. All the Wazas have been excellent so far

Re: Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
I just broke out my PH-1 the other day, and it was way better than I remembered. The part of me that thinks "Why would I need the waza version of something I already have?" came up with the answer: Classic/PH-1r/Special Sauce modes would make it worth the money.

As for the booster....looks like a waza I can live without.

Re: Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
Maybe it’s just because this type of pedal is in my wheelhouse, but it seems like there are a LOT of options in this category already?
What about a Waza PN-2? So many cool possibilities with that.

Re: Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
That's what I'm saying. That thing, even in used form, is still very coveted. I suspect that they would make a killing on a Waza PN-2...marqueemoon wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 3:26 pmWhat about a Waza PN-2? So many cool possibilities with that.

Re: Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
It's about the only base they haven't covered yet (that I can think of). I wouldn't be down for one, (a year or so ago that would be a different story,) because the recent SL-2 has stereo in & out and all those tremolo things in it and more. I wouldn't be wanting both or selling either

Re: Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
There’s nothing special “to me” about the CE-1s preamp. I owned one first hand and never thought that the sound of that was particularly inspiring. The chorus yes, this..no

Re: Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
This sounds like a marketing department pedal. The preamps they claim it’s bases on are not “highly coveted.” They are just trying to piggyback off the Echoplex and Korg SDD-3000 preamps that are.
Boss would have been better served to offer the FA-1 or whatever it is that The Edge uses. A simple boost that they can market to his fans that is his “secret weapon” to authenticate, nay, legendary U2 tones!

Re: Boss Waza Booster/Preamp
I've at least seen other pedals offering an RE-201/301 preamp before.
