your latest inexpensive 9v power supply source?

Post by 46346 » Sat Jan 13, 2024 3:58 pm

i've got setups migrating all over town and sometimes come up short on the basic 9v Negative-tip 500mA (or stronger) power supply.
i'm thinking 'cheap enough that if they get lost in the shuffle, that's ok' - but still need to sound clean and strong.
also should have about 5 feet of cable or more

i bought a batch a few years back on ebay, but that link no longer works. and the three foot cable can be frustrating.

do you have a current (tee hee) successful cheapie?

Not exactly cheapy (~30 Bucks) - but the Truetone One Spot does the trick for me - I use it on both my boards (1700mA is enough to power all my pedals with a (their) daisychain) and got an additional one for my girlfriend who is the singer in my band - and that DBA Echo Master she is using was too noisy with the cheap 10 Bucks model from Thomann that we had used before.
Also I sold my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 since and don‘t miss it.

yeah - the One Spot is still a great value after all these years. and i've had a Voodoo brick on my monster board for decades!

i'm thinking that $35 should get me three individual supplies for random spot utility work in different locations, rather than
a multi-tap option for just one board. a spare in my gig bag, one in my car's tool bag, etc.

yeah, i'm being a cheapskate, but this is some secondary applications ;)

i love the Echo Master. and being a good quality analog preamp/delay, i'm thinking it needs more than the 25mA that they specified.

I tried to find quiet, inexpensive ones a couple years ago but had no luck. They all turned out to be really noisy. For what I was needing them for, I went back to the trusty old Godlyke Powerall.
