Footswitch pop - causes and remedies?

Are pull down resistors designed into the circuits of some builders and not others? Is it common in the industry, or maybe not done at all? I know the sound of a pedal popping, but I never thought about it until reading this thread.

Some circuits need them, others do not, so they arent always used. Some builders slap them on everything just because its a 1 cent part and why not.

There is nothing inherent in a tremolo effect pedal that will cause pop. Its possible that all of the ones you tried lacked pull-down resistors when they needed them. There's no need for an extra in-line box if everything is built proper.

I think I figured out my problem - the input was way too low and all amp noises were way louder than normal. I pushed the levels up and the pop got super quiet. It is still there but I doubt I'll hear it unless switching when not playing.

But, I did measure an average of 100ma of DC between the tip and sleeve of the input of the reverb tank. Rather than build something as a band-aid, I'm going to try and eliminate that VDC! Both amps measure 0ma at their input. That will take some time as I'm a complete dummy. The other dude said he lifted the input resistors off the board on onto the jacks and then the DC was gone.
