MXR Distortion + date

I got this MXR Dist+ today from a guy in my town to try it out, and maybe buy it, but I have a few problems with it. The guy said it was from the 80s, but when I got home and opened it some things didn't add up. Firstly, as you can see it says that it was inspected on 10/4/95, and secondly on the PCB it says Dunlop manufacturing so there is no way I think it is from the 80s. The serial number isH7-62202and the IC is CA741CE. Do you guys have any idea from which year it is given this info and photos?

That's what I thought also. Even though the enclosure might look like it was from the 80s since the color is more mustardy yellow than this new bright yellow that reissues have. But when I opened it the first thing that sparked a doubt was the inspection date. Second was the Dunlop label on the PCB.

That's what interests me the most. What are the main differences in sound between the versions?
This one sounds very interesting to me. I'm a Turbo Rat guy, and this one has a very interesting character comparing to the vintage Rats.

I think that is an early '81-onwards enclosure - very similar what mine looked like (though mine didn't have the LED/power jack).

Looks like someone's rehoused a later circuit board, early ones look like this:

I’d guess it is a 100% (housing and guts) 1995 pedal: the sticker is on the backplate and the circuit board is from that era. The paint is pretty beat up, but that can happen in 29 years

I’ve played quite a few of these, old and new, and they sound very similar across all eras. It’s a straightforward circuit. It’s also fantastic, in my opinion - it’s a classic pedal for a reason!

There are lots of these in the world, they’re not at all rare. You can look through that big echo-y online music exchange to find typical prices for used ones of this not-vintage-collectible variety.

For what it’s worth, I really like the look of the wear on this pedal and if I was in the market for one, it would definitely catch my eye.

Yep. If you like the sound the only other factor is if the price is reasonable.
