This news does not bode well for other brand relaunches.

He said that he's an unbelievable twat and only sold 300ish of them this year.
I don't know that this boes ill of the reissue market so much as a combination of insufficent marketing and a boring product line.

It's hard for me to think of a more oversaturated market than that of the guitar effects pedal. But what do I know. I'm an unbelievable twat myself sometimes.

I still have no idea who the market was for these. The only pedal I could see being SLIGHTLY justified is the Comp for Trey Anastasio fanboys.

I like to think I’m a believable twat.

I guess the big news is the coming sale for the remaining stock at $79 a pop.
The most interesting thing to me was the mention of the other brands that he thought of bringing back...one he said was from the UK, so I assume it was Lovetone...the other 90s US brand could have been Frantone...the rumours about the resurrection of that brand have gone around for years.
I must agree with a post above saying the market is over-saturated...there's too many pedals in the market, and it is always possible to have too much of a good thing.

I'll echo Jonesie on this one and say that it seemed like a fairly pointless venture to begin with. Was anyone clamoring for these things to begin with? Most of the circuits are pretty similar to MXR's offerings from the same era -- most of which are still available now -- and they come in smaller boxes.

Lol, and ditto.
I thought it was a dumb idea anyway and felt like a vanity project (if it's even possible that guy could believe in himself any more than he already does).
Should have stuck to ripping and cloning.

All brands are vanity projects in one way or another.
The question is, does the brand add value? Resurrecting defunct brands can be a way to gain immediate credibility.
I'd point to Eastwood guitars as one way to succeed on this front. Sunn amps may be another, but the jury is still out on that one.

I guess I don't know, what's wrong with this guy? I never follow pedal shit. I know he had some controversy but he always seems fine in the videos.

The gist of the controversy is on the JHS Wikipedia page:
