Good day in the mail yesterday! The DSD-2 never got "lost", but was bouncing in all directions around USPS centers in my area for a week. Glad it made it.
Both of them are seconds for me - I already have one of each, but needed a solid "utility reverb" for a particular rig, no special requirements or demands. Just a good solid reverb on a Bass VI board that I wouldnt need to ever really worry about. The RV-5 was $80, so cheaper than most other options, really.
The DSD-2 has become a recent favorite, and I love the Trigger In function so much that I didn't wanna one day find myself without one. And again, it was cheaper than an off-the-shelf DD-3T.
(I've posted a fair amount about the Trigger In on the DSD-2/3 in other threads, you can learn more here and here.)
DSD-2 dates to December 1985, and has all that delicious Long Chip vibe.
The RV-5 is a great reverb, I love the modulated setting, the others are great, my only real "complaint" is that I find these to be a little bright and hi-fi compared to my longtime relationship with the RV-2, and the decay time could be longer - but again, it was a solid deal on a real solid piece of gear.
I put the pair on a little board for testing, and lost a couple of hours just drifting into space over a downtempo 909 beat last night... good times.
Taste is subjective, but gear like this is why I've always trusted Boss with my reverbs and delays.

RV-6... you're next, you slippery bastard.
