Is that a vintage brownface or the Stapleton reissue? Either way …beautiful and I can only imagine what that tape echo is sounding like through it.

Sorry, I just redid the grill cloth yesterday.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 9:30 amoooof. been a while since i last seen a MMBA that clean. i need more pics.
The mdf frame was disintegrating, the velcro actually pulled the frame apart the last time I removed it for a speaker change. The original grill cloth was coming undone too. So since someone already put a speaker jack by the pilot light (thanks asshole), I just built a new frame and used new cloth.
I've been all through it and it's been recapped, has some nice NOS American 6AQ5s, and sounds pretty good with a Celestion Heritage 20w Greenback in it.

Re: Setup of the day
I used to have an early Musicmaster Bass amp… great amp!! A neighbor had it out for the trash. It needed tubes, a tube socket, and a speaker. I still wish I had it. I had this old LRE solid state reverb that lived on top of it. It was a great little rig. A year of two after I sold it I bought a nice ‘73 Musicmaster bass for $240. It would have made a super setup.
What year is the Deluxe? It looks great!

Thanks, the Deluxe was made in '04 and is part of a run they did for Musician's Friend. I got it at the tail end when they were clearing them out so it's got some minor problems (excessive binding scraping on the lower bass side of the neck and a few overly chamfered fret slots), but it's not bad. It came with the green key tuners, gold reflectors, and a Nashville. I just installed the metal tuners, speed knobs, and Faber ABR this week to spruce it up a bit. Minus the bridge, I'm going for an early 80s look just for something different. It's kind of been the unloved child in the closet, but I've really been enjoying it lately.

Haha! Yeah, it's pretty heavy... in both the physical and aural sense. Lucky it's on a concrete floor

Re: Setup of the day
Yeah! That's the new one. I really like it so far. I went with a quad of 75 watt Creambacks. They are a big departure from the V30s that I've been using forever (though my '70s cab does have Greenback clones). The V30s have a huge bottom end, a little bit of a midrange scoop, and a boost in the upper mids (to my ears)... and I would say that so far (unbroken in), the Creambacks are much more evenly voiced. The lowend is a little bit more conservative, there sims to be a bit more midrange, no higher mid spike, and the highs are kinda neutral to possibly a bitt rolled off. Everything is relative of course, depending on the amp settings, etc.
