It's the sort of thing we should hate for it's extreme kitschiness but I can't help but love it for that exact reason. I hear the 50s Gretsch's are very hit or miss, glad you found a good one.
I love it, I’ve got a mate with one of the new silver jets, this thing just wipes the floor with it. I think the Bigsby bridge is a massive part of the tone though.

It is a bit Gretsch-y though, as you say they’re a bit quirky from back then. Mine has a slight neck twist that is totally stable and which I’ve just gotten used to. Still my favourite ever guitar.

Had a dog/cat-sitting gig at the weekend, so took my Tele along to take advantage of my pal's music room, not to mention his board.

Not a very OSG setup today, but sometimes you just need to slam power chords with a LP Style guitar into a Marshall turned up very loud.

Yamaha Studio Lord SL450S ->
Peterson Strobeostomp -> Wampler Belle OD -> Freakshow FX Rabbit (Rat clone) -> Wren & Cuff Blue-Violet Caprid -> JHS Overdrive Preamp -> J Rocket Clockwork Echo Delay -> Zvex SHO ->
Marshall Origin 20 head -> Avatar 2x12 with a Greenback and a G12H 70th Anniversary speaker

That is a killer board! I'd love to play around with the UA pedals alone :w00t:

Yeah, they're decent pedals alright. Not sure I found the delays/reverbs significantly better than others I've tried, but they certainly do the job well enough, and some will find the switchable modes a plus point.

You know what? I should've zoomed in before posting! I had assumed (based on the shape) that all of those UA pedals were their amp-in-a-box pedals, not their effects pedals. I'd still love to try them some day, but the UA amp pedals are what I'm most curious to try!! I'd still have fun cat-/dog-sitting and playing on pedals I don't own though :D

Actually, the Lion one up top is a Marshall-in-a-box, which I didn't bother trying as the FX ones were enough to be going on with....and those dogs weren't going to walk themselves! :D

I probably spent more time trying to dial in the compressor and the Klon than anything else, but yeah, the UA Deluxe is one I'd love to try.

My home practice rig is basically Jag/Meteora -> Catalinbread SCP clone made by a friend of mine -> Prime or Peavey practice amp with the gain turned up, use guitar volume and switches to modify the tones. I like it simple - concentrating on practicing not pedals.

Also my live rig is a pain in the arse two amp guitar/organ sim setup with a DBX tube preamp rack on the guitar output to amp stage, so simplicity for practice is probably a pretty powerful panacea. Next time I do paid gig work or a full band practice at least I'll try and take some pictures. It's like a Chevron /\ with a multi-effects on left side and single pedal organ stuff chained on the right, and I put up with it because it sounds huge.

Ahhhhh Dimension C! That's one of my favourite pedals of all time. I'm all about stereo spatial effects to two amps when I can, to get that fullness, I think because when I produce records I use a lot of stereo spreading effects on the mix and then usually a stereo expander on the mastering stage. Shame they're so pricey though, they kind of live in that "why are all pedals new and used I want £200 these days" category.

Image

I bought one of these for £35 shipped from eBay to feed that habit. I've had one before, recommended it to a friend who plays acoustic and he loves it for bi-amp stuff, and figured I should get another and keep it this time, mostly for dual amping at home.

Does the WazaCraft one sound like the original DC-2 do you think?

Haven't A/B'd them personally, but there are plenty of comparison videos out there.

Meanwhile, you could always keep an eye out for one of these at a decent price:

These are even more variable than the Waza version as you can depress all four buttons simultaneously, in any permutation you like.

I really should've zoomed in! I didn't even notice the Lion up there (to be fair, it's a dark-colored pedal). If money were no issue, I would buy a Lion, Dream, Ruby, and Woodrow. All the demos I've heard of those were absolutely killer sounding.

🤯

Why did I never think to check for Behringer versions of this damn thing?!

I wouldn't pay £200 but I'd pay 10-15% of that for a decent clone of it, and that way if it got broken at a gig I wouldn't be upset. Thanks bud! New avenue to getting that big wide stereo expanded sound...

I have 3 of these at home. Never paid more than £25 for them (that's recently too). I even found another one for that money and gave it to GaryPtaszek as a gift.

The 18v one is marginally better but I like both really. Hugely underrated pedal.

Yeah that's just a photo I grabbed quickly; I believe the one on the way to me is the 18v one, like the one I had decades ago (literally must have been about 2004). Love them. They're alright in mono but I remember having it hooked up to two stacks in parallel corners of the room and being amazed how much bigger it sounded in stereo.

I want to try stacking choruses as I've never done it before and someone here recommended the Space-C so I'm after that now. Chorus into stereo expander to see how far you can push the spread without it sounding like cheap slapback delay ;D
