you were probably really good at Tetris, weren't you! :)
Funny you should say that, and this is a true story...

in the 90s, I bought a first gen Gameboy, and of course, Tetris was the free game that came with it. I played it and played it and played it..clocked hundreds of hours...got fairly good at it...a year or two later, I bought a Nintendo magazine...and it had a high score section.

It was for Tetris. The people listed were around the 180,000 points mark...I hit 280k playing at home on my GB a couple of times way before reading the mag. It was crazy...then I broke the 300k barrier once...if I remember correctly I did 320k or so...I am sure there are guys that even hit more...but it really is the only computer game I was truly great at, and had no idea whatsoever that I was great at at the time! :)
I never got high scores like that (by a long shot), but I was pretty good at Tetris too! When I was a kid, I'd help my sister rearrange her luggage for vacation. To this day, organization still makes me happy, most especially when things fit together really perfectly.

Your board is one of your best looking Yannis! I really love it!! How do you like your GE-7? I'm assuming you use it for your gain pedals? I've been considering one myself, to go in my gain channel (in a BOSS LS-2), after all my gain pedals...

It was a funny thing with Teris...somehow it clicked...in a way my job as a graphic designer making ads is a lot like re-arranging elements on a page until everything fits. :)

Many thanks on the board comments...I am really happy with this one...I've been trying to distil this board to pedals that over the last 20 years have remained firm favourites. I had to put the Model H on my other "Band" board as I needed some heavier sounds for some music I've been working on...enter the EGDM which I run at 18V...it sounds fantastic that way...at 9V and even 12V I wasn't as impressed. I am still undecided on the HOF Mini...I'd like something with a bit more hands-on flexibility, like maybe the Prussian Reverb by One Control...we will see how that goes.

I really like the GE7...I had one many years ago and I always find so many uses for it. I tend to change the settings around quite a bit...but I mostly use it when I play along to records so I "adjust" myself into the mix of what I am hearing. It usually involves scooping the mids a bit and leaving it at that. It runs after almost all the effects and only the HOF reverb is after it.

Pick one up cheap on ebay if you get a chance...I think I paid £40 or so for mine...it is quieter than the MXR 6 Band EQ I had for a while, plus the volume slider makes it more versatile than the MXR I had. 8)

I’ve been contemplating a GE-7 for quite a while, but can’t work out whether to get the stock model or the modified one that Analogman (and others) do, with the substituted chips and tone caps.

I bought some chips and sockets to mod mine earlier this year and still haven't got around to doing it lol. but from my understanding if you only do cuts on your EQ then it isn't too much of an issue.

I agree...if you are not boosting there really isn't all that much noise introduced...boosting is a different story for sure,

I did look at the Analogman modded one, but when I added shipping to the UK from AM (usually about $70 or so), and import taxes on top of that, it was such a huge price gap from a standard used GE7 on ebay here in the UK...I just couldn't justify it. Having said that, I am certain the AM mods are great! :)

Per Analogman, the GE-7 mods came from DIYStompboxes.org, so maybe you could mod one yourself? If you really wanted to that is.

Yeah cheap to do yourself as you really only need to replace the chips to get rid of the noise. The reason the pedal functions this way is because originally they wanted the pedal to function better running on batteries as that was more common back when they designed it and those chips worked better for that in regards to power usage, if I recall correctly.

I picked up the parts from ebay and got the sockets as well just to be fancy. Easy mod if you've ever done anything with a soldering iron before. I was going to do two pedals and just pick up another chip for like $6 from a local shop as it is three chips per pedal.

10pcs 2.54MM 8 Pin 8 Pin DIP-8 8DIP 8 DIP IC Sockets Adaptor Solder Type - $9.29au/$7us

5PCS OP AMP IC BURR-BROWN/BB/TI DIP-8 OPA2134PA OPA2134PAG4 - $2.79au/$2us

Ooh. That would be tempting to do myself. So, when Analogman talks about the capacitor upgrades, that's not really necessary?

the chips are like 95% of it and the caps are like 5% of it in my opinion. Or at least from a video I watched online of someone doing it, I'm sure I sent that to you in PM once lel. xD

There is a gap to fill on one board fairly obviously, but that is in hand. Thoroughly enjoying this setup though - sounds gigantic.

Looks like a Fairfield Shallow Water would fit in that spot, beautifully. ;)
Great setup. Curious to see what fills that spot.

Ha! Good shout! Though the Zvex sort of covers me for that. I’ve got an OC-5 on the way, and may well cram an Unpleasant Surprise in there too.

I'm pretty sure you did too! I've been so busy in the last couple months, and I need to go through past PMs and take screenshots of some information I want to keep.

The OC-5 is awesome! I picked one up a little over a month ago and it's a LOT of fun!!

Where's the Maxon!? :P Can't go wrong with a good old DMM, tbh. Loving the board. Quite a bit of ground you could cover with that. How do you like the HOF?

Bonus points for OG EGDM!! I'd love to get my hands on an old BJF pedal some day. I still use my honey bee clone all the time but would absolutely splurge on a real one - ya know...just 'cause.

:D

Yes, the DMM has totally taken over the #1 spot for me...the modulation part was the clincher...I love that big ol' thing so much, that I bought a second one for my other pedalboard...I do miss the AD900 every now and then when I get sentimental. :)

The HOF is pretty good, although at times I miss having the control over the effects that say, my Walrus Fathom gives me. I will keep the HOF on for now, but I may swap it over for something like a One Control Prussian Reverb in the future...we will see. For now the HOF works well for a touch of reverb. (My other board is the reverb-tastic one).

On the OG EGDM, you should definitely try and get an old BJFE if you get the chance...they can be pricey but every now and then a realistic seller with a tatty one (like my EGDM) comes to his/her senses and lets it go for a fair price...I think I paid about £235 for mine and that was a steal. For some reason many three knob EGDMs go under the radar...if I had some spare cash, I'd pick up a spare one.

The EGDM rules at 18V...I don't rate it as much at 9V or even 12V, but at 18V it is like an extra amp channel to my Matchless Lightning, and it loves the Fuzz Factory like no other OD/Distortion I've ever tried. It's the same with the Octane 3 and the Klon...very cool pedal. 8)
