Favorite pedal names

Post by fuzzjunkie » Thu Oct 18, 2007 10:09 am

I'm tired of the King of Tone, Shredmaster and Box of Rock type names...what ever happened to giving a fuzz pedal a name like Screaming Platypus?

I nominate:

Addrock Ol' Yeller...sounds like something the Beasties should use for metal riffs.
ProCo Rat...keep it simple
Monkeys Fly Out Butt...a legendary Japanese pedal

I always liked the fact that in a world of pedals either trying to sound tough (Metal Zone, Machine, etc.) or rude (Big Muff, Super Hard On, Butt Probe) there exists a little overdrive simply called Timmy.

I also like the name Liquid Sunshine .. and a couple of the Monkey FX pedals have cool names: the Cheeky Monkey and the Monkey Fuzzle.

BeeBaa is a great name. i also like one i came up with myself; Big Murph. even though it's obviously a big muff-pastiche i think it holds its own. i picture murph as a huge muscular guy who doesn't talk much, but when he does, everyone listens.

i think there's a danish-made envelope filter pedal called the discumBOBulator or something like that. i've always thought that sounds cool.

Timmy!  I like that name...but I can't help but think of Southpark whenever I say it  ;D

Swollen Pickle...I love all those Way Huge names...and it doesn't hurt that the pedals rock too!

BeeBaa...my favorite fuzz!

I like Big Murph for a huge sounding fuzz...not quite as porn-star as my Mustache Ride...when i finish it the Mustache Ride will be blue...hmm maybe it needs a sparkle coat  instead 8)

Yeah, the Emma DiscomBOBulator - I've got one, it's quite a good envelope filter if you like that kind of thing. They do the Reezafratzitz (distortion) as well which is also a cool name.

well, I really like the Way Huge names, so initially I thought Throbbing Dromedary, but that is the single hump camel. The double humper is the Bactrian...so how about the Bactrian Oscillator?

if you really hate the animal motif...all I got is the Double Humper Thumper...porn-star is my fall back plan. :D

Emma has also done a compressor called TransMORGrifier. Apparently, they are working on an OD/boost pedal that they're going to call "OnoMATOpoeia"  ???
