Catalinbread Adineko- Anyone got one?

Post by ToneFerDayz!!1! » Tue Dec 15, 2015 4:49 am

As a fan of old weird delay units such as oilcan delays I was super stoked to see the Old Blood Black Fountain, but it didn't seem to cop the sound of the old Gibby oilcan I had so I passed. But the Adineko really seems to hit the mark on the demos, at least to my ears. Anyone played one yet? I've got one coming in the mail and I can't wait.

i have to say that it does already sound more correct than the OBNE, and that was a fun delay !

Agreed. Demos sound better for sure to me, but I like the looks of the Black Fountain SO much... haha

Pooh! I haven't heard of this. I was checking out the Black Fountain the other day and was all "meh."

I can't watch the video now but I can't wait to check it out. Catalinbread gets 10 thumbs up in my book so I'll bet it's great!

Holy shit, this pedal rules! :-* It can do everything from seasick pitch-shifting weirdness to lovely, warm, lo-fi delay. I'd write more but I want to go and jam with it again.

A more measured response-- it really does capture all the lovely weirdness of an old analog unit. Surprisingly, I find that I love it more with the modulation backed off to cop a dirty tape echo/drum echo vibe. I really am in total love with this goddamned pedal.

Just got one of these in the mail, anyone still messing with theirs? Can't wait to get home and try it. I saw someone say on Surfguitar101 it goes before the reverb tank, anyone messed around with that?

Mine has become the cornerstone of my live gigs, but I don't use too many other reverbs on my live board. I'm running:

Jazzmaster / Jaguar > 2in1 > ssBS Fuck OD > Demo Tape Fuzz > Adineko > Stargazer > 1960s Dynacord Twen or Selmer TnB Mk II

I have my Adineko set on the verge of self oscillation for that swampy, fucked up Neil Young "Dead Man"-era
sound.

Resurrection...

A few years ago i was eyeing one of these, but for whatever reason never got it. Recently a friend lent me his, and it has blown me away. It’s one of those pedals that just wants to make me play more, and so different from any other delay or reverb - it really is in a category of its own. From the same friend i borrowed a Black Fountain as well, but that didn’t give me the same feeling as the Adineko.

Better late than never, i guess!

Are others still digging this fairly unique pedal?

Cheers.

I ended up getting an EQD Space Spiral instead of the Adineko or Black Fountain. Really great pedal as well, and another option for the oil can delay sound.

I tried both the Catalinbread and Old Blood and ended up with the Adineko. It sounded best to my ears.

The thread that keeps on echoing!

I have many great delays but I just heard/heard about the Adineko. :w00t: :? :-*

It does nothing these do and I want one so bad!! I already have/use a Watkins Copicat, Strymon Flint, Ibanez DPL10 digital pan delay, Ibanez AD100 analog delay, TC HoF Mk 1.
