Which album by The Cure has the most mojo?

Post by sal paradise » Sun Jan 23, 2022 10:28 am

My friends always say my classic rock collection is really uncool. I’m having a party next week & looking to spice up my cd rack to impress of few folks. Any recommendations?
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Bunch of pussies, you ask me.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

so the goal is to just have the CD on display, not actually play it during the party...?

As one does, yes.

LOL well back in my day  the Cure party albums were the Standing on a Beach comp, and then KMKMKM when it came out. i always felt Head on the Door was uneven and overrated.

The Cure have done so much music and so diverse it is hard to say what has the most mojo, one person will prefer A some will prefer B. Personally I listen to Head on the Door [1985] the most because to me it is the most consistent and has the best repeat value. If you just want to own your part time fan status then just get this...

Best value for money without being at all challenging. The only thing it is missing that is a must is the song Burn from The Crow soundtrack...

If you want to be extra then I'd start with:-

Head on the Door [1985]
Wish [1992]
Disintegration [1989] *EDIT

Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me [1987] is good but I think it could be a bit more challenging over all.

Then the rest are as vital as one another imo.

Don't be ashamed of your own tastes in music.

But if you have to get the coolest Cure album to pretend to be really into them, it would have to be Pornography. Then follow it up with Seventeen Seconds.
Having a copy of Charlotte Sometimes 7" kicking around would get you extra brownie points, too.

It was actually released in 1989.

Call yourself a Cure fan?! Honestly!!! ;D
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I second Pornography, played loud. It will definitely influence the party's mood, maybe just not in a way you want.

You can't go wrong when the first lyric on an album is "it doesn't matter if we all die." I LOVE that album, and love it even more because its producer later went and had that massive hit "Torn" with Natalie Imbruglia.

Amazing
I love how what would have been my joke reply of "mixed up" was recommended almost immediately.
