It reminds me a lot of Calexico. The Black Light is a great album.

There's a good reason for that- John Convertino and Joey Burns were on board for this album, and I think the one after it.
I like The Black Light too, those first few Calexico albums were really something. 8)

Marc Ribot's track is extremely close to what I was originally looking for. The rest of the tracks in the compilation are also so good. Thank you for the tastefully selected music.

As mentioned above this track is on the Repo Man soundtrack. Their 3 songs are the highlight of the whole thing.

Too bad everything they did is out of print.

I wonder if I still have my cassette of the soundtrack in my moms basement. A bunch of us bought it at the 99 cent store back in the late 90s kinda half ironically but I still played it quite a bit. We were pretty obsessed with the movie at the time.

It appears to be a cult film! Was it popular in America in the 80s?

Eh, I personally couldn't speak to if it was popular in the 80s here as a cult film. I was born in '77, and though I did inadvertently get into some cult films as a kid, I don't remember much about that one then. It wasn't on my radar until the mid-late 90s.

I need to watch this too. It's great that Harry Dean Stanton is in the movie. He is such a memorable actor

James Wilsey - Superstar

This guitarist was mentioned in the comments under the video from first post. What an impressive use of tremolo, it's so melodic and elegantly.

Gloomy Western Flamenco is basically the descriptor for Anna Calvi's first album and to a certain extent her other work
