yes! it must be that Brauner microphone :P
great sounding album, and i like the songs on it. i think i might dish out for the box set, and support the boys.

i also went through and listened to all the Neubauten yesterday, as i hadn't in a long time, and man, i remember all of it still, but i forgot how amazing some of their stuff is. Go listen to Three Thoughts right now, and tell me it's not killer!

Necro post, but sad news to hear Alex has left the band. Doesn’t sound like it was on the best of terms either. I also realized I’m now the same age as Alex was when I met him.

Wow, something must have been pretty dysfunctional for him to leave? He had been with them since he was a teen, must have time to move on

That’s what I figured. He stated
“To whom it may concern:
“I, Alexander Hacke would like to announce that I have left Einstürzende Neubauten.
It is not a decision I have taken lightly. This band has been my family for more than four decades, but it has become obvious for quite some time, after many discussions and efforts to solve our differences, that our basic standards, personally and professionally, have diverged on every level.
In order to uphold my core value of integrity, I therefore have no other choice than to continue on my path without them”

Sounds like a pretty big rift

Bargeld seems to have a reputation for being hard to work with...Hacke managed to do fourty-four years, which is quite impressive in any band context!

My band got to open for Hackedepicciotto sometime last November, to say that I was star-struck would be an understatement. He and Alice were lovely despite an argument with the sound engineer and some technical problems on stage. Before the show, Hacke was telling me stories about his life and music : "And Blixa was like, uh, you know, Blixa Bargeld, the lead singer in Einstürzende Neubauten ?" "...yes!" :) After the show he told me my singing reminded him of Bryan Ferry and how he was terrified by him as a child ("All the feathers and the falsetto, I really didn't get it".)

So, yeah, the upside of all this is that they seem to be touring a lot with Alice, and I guess being able to tour as a duo with all of your gear in ONE little white van must be a relief after years of lugging tons of rusty steel around.

I’m not surprised, Blixa is a strong personality, having met him twice. Alex is an absolute gem too, I met him when I was 18 and they were playing Vancouver. Danielle was also a total sweetheart. I still keep in touch with her on occasion. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with them, and Neubauten will always be a huge part of my musical life. I did write my masters thesis essentially on them after all haha.
I’m sure it’s a relief bringing just a bass guitar and a computer and a violin now instead of 30 feet of PVC pipe and a plane turbine. Still sad that the relationship after 45 years has come to this though.

The statement made on the forum also seems to imply that Jochen Arbeit and Rudolph Moser have also left? I really wish I had joined the last supporter project when it was still undergoing.

Oh really? Yikes! If that’s the case then that doesn’t sound very good at all!
