Slow Crush - Belgian Shoegaze
I just discovered this band as a friend of mine tipped them to me...
Classic Shoegaze, think MBV/Slowdive...
If have some time on your hands, check out their performance reccorded at the AB Brussels on 24/04/2021
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGL-sa4m7-Y
This is really good stuff imho....
I'm definite going to check them live when all this will be possible again!!!
Something to look forward too!!!
And, yes it Offset galore...

My band’s last show before the world imploded was with them in Glasgow. Good folks and a great band. Recommend.

This album rules, thanks. I swear that at some point one of their songs (the first on the 2020 album, I think?) came up on one of those curated shoegaze/dream pop Spotify playlists I throw on while I'm working.

Thanks, this is great. I knew Ancienne Belgique from their high-quality audio youtube videos of bands like Wilco, so it's pretty cool they put forth a video of the same quality for a shoegaze band that doesn't get 100k's of views (7890 at time of post).

Re: Slow Crush - Belgian Shoegaze
They are good but I hear them and dont think classic shoegaze. Its like a mix of heavier 0000s genres with some my bloody valentine-ish sounds added on top, if you know what i mean...well maybe. Or maybe thats just what Nugaze is... Or maybe how even shoegaze wall of sound is updated to today's 'clarity is everything' production.

When hardcore bands went shoegaze it was all atmospheric tremolo, but crisp production more like dream pop I guess.
Who knows. I like this band though. I’m still toying with the idea of some kind of grungy Slowdive crossover type thing. These guys are pretty close to that but fitting what’s followed in the indie, post rock & punk scenes IMO.

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Yes thats what i am hearing: post-hardcore (or postpostposthardcore?) with added sounds. At least like its seeded from it. I dont knock it though!sal paradise wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 4:38 amWhen hardcore bands went shoegaze it was all atmospheric tremolo, but crisp production more like dream pop I guess.

Its just what i love about shoegaze is experimentalism and being unclear on purpose.. maybe even that it lacked pastiching thing

Ah, you see what got me into shoegaze was bands like editors. Back in the 90s, if it wasn’t grunge or skatepunk I wasn’t digging it. I woke up to Gish & MBV way too late in life.jorri wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 5:22 amYes thats what i am hearing: post-hardcore (or postpostposthardcore?) with added sounds. Prob Radiohead and Sigur Ros and Mogwai for me led me onto it. Well anything ethereal, like Doves or something and even early Coldplay and thinking "surely someone does this better than this" although sure, it led to something else i think interpol and editors just led me to joy division and the bunnymensal paradise wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 6:56 amAh, you see what got me into shoegaze was bands like editors. Re: Slow Crush - Belgian Shoegaze
And i think, somehow i created an aversion to anything grungy and post-hardcore haha. I mean discovering Sonic Youth or electronica like Aphex and BOC i think i basically ditched any connotation to 'rock music' for a while...jorri wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 6:55 amProb Radiohead and Sigur Ros and Mogwai for me led me onto it.
