The Cure haven't done anything interesting since "the Head on the Door" IMHO.
Best thing Smith has done in recent years is encouraging Icelandic trio Kaelan Mikla, who are perhaps a little derivative but I love them regardless...
As a fellow MTB'er I was always going to side with Simon on this anyway.

The Cure should have broken up 25 years ago. And for the love of god will someone tell Robert that he can drop the fucking goth uniform and just dress like a normal old man. He looks creepy as fuck, and not in an endearing way.

Maybe he doesn’t have any other clothes, maybe he dresses like that when he gets up and that’s his deal....porl look worse though...

But do you really want to see Smith play in sweat pants and polo shirt ...????

Having just seen a pic from the Mary Chain's gig the other night, I'd say William Reid looks like he's giving Bob a run for his money these days. Love them both!

Tell us how that goes
sneak preview...
1) why is guy fieri still in the band?
2) why are the songs slower?
3) why is the keyboardist playing tambourine? he used to play keys on this song

i do like that they change up the setlist, so there's always the surprise deep cut.

Plus "Why are the parts that were played on a Bass VI played on a guitar?" which is my main complaint with the current line up of The Cure.

I have my gripes with the current incarnation of the Cure (plenty of them!), but I can't think of any songs off the top of my head that fall into that category...?

I might be wrong.

I know that the last time I saw them live, Robert Smith played parts of "Bloodflowers" on his guitar using an octave down effect. It sounded... well, not as good as it could.

You might well be right. That song falls outside the scope of the Cure material I'm particularly invested in, so I probably wouldn't have noticed either way.

That's curious. I know Schecter makes a, shall we say polarizing, Utra Bass VI model and I've seen pictures of him playing it. Don't think I'll ever see it in person, I saw the Disintegration tour and I'm just going to preserve that as my Cure in-person experience.
