Don’t know why I’m sticking up for idiot metal fans, but that statement is true of almost every single rock music fan/musician.mbene085 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:13 amMy point is that they think they're shitting on everything pop, but they're ironically lapping up music created with the same ethos and tools.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:10 ammy experiences is they still shit on anything even remotely pop.
Annnnd, one of the best musicians I’ve ever met in my life happens to be a producer favoured by some metalcore type bands in the mid 00s (one of whom had a top 10 album in the UK). The studio is in his back garden and only has 1 small live room for drums, cabs & vocals. His post-production magic is only bettered his guitar skills & insanely complex songwriting. (He’s a prog guy, so makes sense about a bit focus on post)
That said, technology has come a long way in 15+ years, and is easier to “fake” now.

In the skate punk world, we did an album on pro-tools back in 2003. And I can promise you my guitar had a lot of drop-in’s and some consolidated takes…

Today I found out that the VM Baritone Jazzmaster became so desirable that Thomann went ahead and made a Harley Benton copy of it:

...which is simply an all-black, P90-equiped version of the Bass VI they make.

Re: Do you DJENT on your Squire VM Baritone Jazzmaster??
i tried one of these years ago (i think i might have a video on my instagram of me playing it) and it was..... fine. my friend payed £80 used for it and it was pretty standard of a guitar at that price. i think it was something like £180 new and for that price, i'd rather just save up for one of the squier bass vi's because it felt like a way better deal.
offset guitars resident bass player.

Yes, of course. The bridge is also different and it has the strat jackplate. I actually think that the bridge is an improvement over the Squier and the design of the pickguard is nicer on the HB.
Still it's kind of crazy that those VM baritones went straight from "nobody wants it" to "they sell copies of it".

Yeah - I’m sitting on my stockpile of Hannah Montana electrics waiting for the same thing.

Re: Do you DJENT on your Squire VM Baritone Jazzmaster??
When I first read the title of the thread, I thought it was a weird, misspelled reference to the epic Tortoise track "Djed". Which does include some lovely Bass VI playing. I'd much rather use one for some "djedding" - playing pretty melodies with subtle slap-back echo and a fuzz pedal (I suspect).
I have nothing valuable to contribute to this thread. I did see one of those antigue burst ones once, the bass player in Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble plays/played one. Sounded great and looked very cool.

Re: Do you DJENT on your Squire VM Baritone Jazzmaster??
But can one of those DJANGO acoustic 'Maccaferri' guitars Djent? With a pickup? It has 0 and 1 frets yes. But why even guitars, i stumbled across a production video where all the Djent bass was replaced with carefully positioned upright piano samples and it sounded a LOT heavier- so i think this must be the idea of 'pop-production'. Nonetheless whenever i have a heavy song, albeit more drone-doomy, i am tempted to use some sub-bass piano in it.
