Non-guitar music you like
Another slightly blasphemous post here, but what non-guitar music do you love?
I am currently listening to Hot Chip. It's really doing it for me, in a way that normally only guitar bands do... Lots of old skool synth sounds, with great pop (in the proper sense of the word) sensibility.
Bjork (of course)
Regina Spektor - sort of a cross between Bjork and Kate Bush. Great songs.
Imogen Heap
Gnarls Barkley
Radiohead's Kid A and Amnesiac...

It's not "all the time" music, but I have found myself listening to the following from time to time:
Frou Frou
Mum
Boards of Canada
Sigur Ros (not too guitary)
Meat Beat Manifesto
Massive Attack
Amon Tobin
I am X (Sneaker Pimps offshoot)
Gus Gus
The Go Find
Prodigy

Re: Non-guitar music you like
All kinds of stuff ..
Jazz .. Coltrane, etc. +! on Jaga Jazzist, I really like their stuff.
Electronica .. Aphex Twin, Two Lone Swordsmen, Underworld, Massive Attack .. anything glitchy, ambient or trancy as long is it isn't too Ibiza (p-tuh!).
"Classical" .. actually more baroque I guess .. Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, more structured earlier stuff. Not a big fan of swirly symphonic stuff like Beethoven, although things improve again with more modern composers like Stravinski up through to Arvo Part, Michael Nyman, Steve Reich.
"World music" .. not really keen on the term, but there's some great stuff around, like Bulgarian choirs, Indonesian gamelan, Arabic music .. I want to mention the African high-life stuff as well even though that's guitar music I guess.

Re: Non-guitar music you like
I have an eclectic taste in music (also described by some ex girlfriends and "bloody weird"), but if I was to take the heading of the post literally (non guitar music), then that would be either "world music" and all that encompasses, which my exposure to is very thin on the ground and Jazz.
I really like:
John Coltrane
Jimmy Smith (the master of the Hammond B3)
Miles Davis (anything before 1968)
Earl Garner (the guy who actually wrote/played the tune "misty" , later used in the movie "play misty for me")
Red Garland
Not really a classical listener (although I do like Beethovens poems .... thank you Ringo for that one) however, because of my love of organs, some of Handel's organ pieces are truly superb

relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

+ 1 on Autechre, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada.
I also love Joanna Newsom.
I just listened to Regina Specktor's new album and was disappointed - overproduced.
Goldfrapp are pretty cool,
and Tom Waites. There's guitars on it, but I wouldn't say it's guitar music... I guess you can get into definitions. I would suggest there's some music is more about guitars, and some music happens to have guitars on it because that's what the artist happens to play. I would count Tom Waites, Johnny Cash, Sigur Ros

I always thought of Tom Waits as more of a piano player .. but Marc Ribot is a guitarist I admire very much, so when I think TW I do think guitar.

Re: Non-guitar music you like
I dunno about Sigur Rós not being a guitar band - certainly "Takk" is much less guitar-based than before, but there's still a lot of guitar on it. And most of the stuff off "Ágætis Byrjun" and "( )" is very guitar-heavy (and guitar-centric!) too.Jez wrote: and some music happens to have guitars on it because that's what the artist happens to play. and I second the thoughts about Regina Spektor - she writes really good music, but it always ends up being way too over-produced.

Re: Non-guitar music you like
Rather loving Lily Allen at the moment.
Favourite non-guitar music?
- Leftfield's Rhythm and Stealth album.
- Drukqs by Aphex Twin (if I'm in the mood)
- Jurassic 5's first LP
- lots of old hip-hop
- very little new hip-hop, though Jay-Z makes me happy sometimes
- Bjork
- Massive Attack's first three albums
- Tricky
Also, being a classically trained cellist, there's loads of cello music I love.
