The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Oh, that was a real delight! I'd never heard of the wondermints before; now I am greedily gobbling up what I can.
I see that was from 1994, 17 year old me would have exploded and those ladies would have been my objects of obsession instead of Ruthie Morris.

How the hell did I never know about the wondermints all this time?? It doesn't compute at all.

They're pretty great; they always reminded me of a more accessible Jellyfish.mackerelmint wrote: ↑Thu Apr 12, 2018 2:49 pmHow the hell did I never know about the wondermints all this time?? It doesn't compute at all.

That seems like a pretty good description. Man, I love me some Roger Manning.

Me too!
Fun story: Right after Jellyfish broke up, I was shopping for a Fender Rhodes at a shop called Black Market Music in LA that had an incredible amount of used and vintage gear. My friend and I walked in and were looking around when the shop owner asked me what I was looking for (he’d been talking with a customer who had his back to us). I told him I wanted a Rhodes and the customer he was talking to turned around and said, “I’m selling a bunch of my gear on consignment if you’re interested in my old sampler with a full library.” It was Roger Manning Jr, and he was offering to sell me his full sample library and sampler from his days with Jellyfish! He was surprised I recognized him and I told him I was sad Jellyfish were done, but he was really excited about his new project Imperial Drag, and gave us tickets to an upcoming show. He was super nice, and I would have loved to have his equipment, but it was more money than I had at the time and I left with the Rhodes I still own today.

Dubstar - Not So Manic Now this song has harrowing lyrical content concerning the brutal rape of an old age pensioner but it's handled with a light and poetic touch.
Brick Supply - Not So Manic Now more post Smiths northern guitar pop sort of thing which I don't like much but full marks for meaningfull and beautifully written lyrics.

This cover of Roland the headless thompson gunner that Lauren O'Connell did is pretty damn great.

Last Saturday I listened to someone perform on hammered dulcimer who could barely play, but it sounded beautiful nonetheless. It sent me scrambling to hear it played well which led me to this cover of the Tears For Fears classic:

They have also been Brian Wilson's backing band for years. I saw them onstage supporting the Beach Boys 50th anniversary tour. I thought they were the secret weapon for keeping it musically and vocally (harmonies) tight. Darian Sahanaja especially covered the late Carl Wilson's parts beautifully.
