recent vinyl acquisitions the thread

Post by panoramic » Mon Feb 27, 2012 7:35 am

wherein you should discuss what you have recently picked up on vinyl.
last week i got the following:
Astrobrite - crush, this was rereleased a while back on vinyl. I am sure some of you know what this is already, but it's super lo-fi 4 trash shoegaze stuff from a member of loveliescrushing which is a band some of you probably know already.
Sonic Youth - Death Valley 69 7 inch, og pressing, i dunno how i stumbled across this but I did, anyhow, it is nice to have on vinyl.
ike and tina turner - her man, his woman 12 inch, i love LOVE old soul/r&b stuff and this one's opening track "get it" is fucking amazing. If you are a sucker for old soul stuff give this a listen on youtube or wherever. Their drummer is awesome on this track.
Further "Distance" ep 2x7, you like dinosaur and SY? you love further but just don't know it yet.
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

i haven't been LP hunting a a while. during x-mas, my wife and i went to a thrift store in the tine town outside of columbia, sc and found a lot of great stuff. there must have been a metal head somewhere in that hick town. tons of maiden, priest, and rainbow. i picked up man on the silver mountain and yes' close to the edge to replace my flood damaged copies. also found gary numan's i, assassin for $2. there were a few more finds, but i can't recall them offhand, but i walked out with 8 records in great shape for $18. it took a while to search though, because there for every rock record, it seemed like there were 10 andy williams xmas albums

I picked up a 7" copy of Electricity by The ApplesinStereo in a charity shop today for 50p. Money well spent.

I also got a 7" copy of 1999/Little Red Corvette by Prince and Time For Action by Secret Affair at the weekend.

7" singles are pretty much all I buy on vinyl these days.

PiL - Public Image (original Japanese pressing)
Bastard - Controlled in the Frame (red vinyl and hand screened cover versions)
V/A - Terminal Decay LP
Gun Club - Fire of Love (original Italian pressing)
I recently ordered extras of both the Autoluminescent single and Teenage Snuff Film LP, both by Rowland S. Howard, though I haven't received them yet
That's about all I can think of right now.

is that the one with the lyrics scrawled on top of a Gerhard Richter painting? That's such a weird sounding version of that song compared to the album.

I've got an SST pressing of Confusion Is Sex coming my way. I also had a kind of anti vinyl acquisition take place. A friend of mine said he was starting to get into 90s music, so I
promptly lent him my copy of Loveless. Two weeks later and I still haven't gotten it back. NOT COOL MAN.

Talk Talk - Laughing Stock reissue
Grimble Grumble - 12" (just played with them. Every song starts off like a cover of Sister Ray in all the best ways).

Boxes and boxes of 45s we had packed for the last five (or more) years. Still not sure if I have them in the wrong order or I was using some crazy organization system at the time.
