That Final Fantasy album has really grown on me, and I really like it now.Ludger wrote: With the last of my emusic subscription today I downloaded Final Fantasy (classically inlfluenced, violin heavy),
In my CD player, it's "Writer's Block" by Peter, Björn and John
On my turntable, it's "Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine
The last thing I listened to on my MP3 player was "Wonderful Rainbow" by Lightning Bolt

Excellent choice! I have had Felt Mountain and Black Cherry both on heavy rotation since they first came out. I read a review of one of her LPs once where they likened her to "Kraftwerk with a clit". I think that may have been what sparked my interets in Kraftwerk. I love Felt Mountain so much that we even bought the "revamped" box set which adds a few remixes and a short video showing some of her filming and video.stereordinary wrote: My CD player only holds one disc and I have no iPod. Konono are really great--especially live: they're really hypnotic.Ludger wrote: With the last of my emusic subscription today I downloaded Final Fantasy (classically inlfluenced, violin heavy), Konono No.1 (mind blowing African grooves) and Lord Melody (CALYPSO!)

If you like Don Caballero, you should check out Chevreuil. They're a French duo with the rawest sound I've ever heard. Well, raw for a drummer and a guitar player with four Akai Headrushes. :D

The Monks are amazing. Have you ever heard their Five Upstart Americans album? It's actually a compilation of their pre-album demos--the band's sound is not nearly as evolved as on Black Monk Time, but it's worth checking out!Maggieo wrote: Black Monk Time- Monks

Oh, and I was misinformed about where the Monks were from- they were five ex-GI's who stayed in Germany after their service. So, they were the VU of the FDR!
