I got the Cowabunga! Boxed Set which is full of different bands. It's now out of print. :(

Just logged in to say "Takeshi Terauchi" but got beaten to it. The whole 'Eleki' genre and explosion of surf music in Japan is a bottomless pit of inventive awesomeness.

Man? or Astroman? are a kind of punk infused modern surf act that are pretty awesome.
Saw Dick Dale in 99 one of the best shows I've ever seen. MOAM is a great band as well, seen them at least a half a dozen times. The ventures are the most popular instrumental surf band, I have some of their early records, they are best on vinyl.
i also saw dick dale for the first time in 99. it was some real life altering stuff. not life altering enough to make me buy a strat, but it made me realize a guitarist didn't need a marshall stack and a ton of distortion to be loud and heavy

Great link, I'm gonna be busy checking these out (along with some suggested drone, and psychedelic bands)!

Oh! Hi Andy, how are you?

We're getting along just fine. In fact, it has become one of my favourite guitars! It was a good guitar before, but your body has turned it into something special.

I get that a lot.

Haha jk. I'm glad it found a good home! I saw the photo you posted in the Strat thread and it looks great!

Something more 'modern' (90's / 00's onwards):

The Bambi Molesters from Croatia !!!!!!!

and here from their collaboration with Chris Eckman from the Walkabouts (who lives around the corner, in Slovenia, where he is married)
