The Silver Globe Companion pieceThe Amber Lightis out in the wild. It's digital only, you can buy it on it's own or get it free with the Silver Vinyl version of The Silver Globe. The last LP had a similar companion piece called The Watchbird Alluminate but that came on vinyl. I'd love the Amber Light on vinyl but I've bought this a stupid amount of times since all the kids and Mrs S have it too.

Whisperit postedI Need Connection a while back and I'll reprise it's stroboscopic space priestess pop wonder, it's number one all over heaven.

Then there's some no messing breezy GULP style retrofuturist pop, some planet commuting space motorbikin'' remixing, a ghostly Desert Shored piano ballad, some future primitive percussive thrump to get you dancing round the fire and some dreamlike sound art!

Plus the lo-beam Morricone stylings of;

A Parade of Blood Red Sorrowswhich was on her Disposable Music Split with Pierre Raph

Oh thetitle track is gorgeous... :-*

Alexis Petridis bigging up The Silver Glove (and by extension The Amber Light) in the Guardian.

I kinda disagree with how he refers to her previous work, since 'The Fallen By Watchbird' was pretty psychedelic IMO but other than that it's 'no bad'.

As one of my kids said to a patron in a record shop; 'WHAT, you don't own The Silver Globe? What's wrong with you?' :D

There is a crazy amount of new music being released every week, I'm getting lost

Anyway, here's an “incidental music” counterpart to The Silver Globe’s conceptual soundtrack by Suzanne Ciani, Andy Votel and Sean Canty aka Neotantrik:

Finder Keepers,
Juno (with sample).

I grabbed that on Friday. The other Neotantrik records have been great too.

Some gear ('it was once owned by Status Quo'), demo development and recording chat.

Revisiting this, love the slidey bass synth.

Man, I like this so far and might listen to some more later to see if I want to buy the record.

I was wondering, being woefully out of the loop in the music section here on OSG sometimes, what is "Broadcast" that you guys mentioned earlier? What was said about it has piqued my curiosity :)

British band from Birmingham, important for both being amazing and also popularising a certain musical and thematic aesthetic, which feeds into the very broad Hauntological genre you might see mentioned around here. Sadly the singer Trish Keenan died very young and the band are sadly more popular after her death.

Here's a few albums on yootoob.

HaHa Sound

Tender Buttons

The Noise Made by People

Broadcast is basically my favorite band of all time. They manage to cover nearly every element of what I love about music. Their combination of voice, melodies, 'weird,' pop, and everything else took me to a place where no bands really have before or since. Very few of my 'muso' friends even know, or ever knew about them, and that sucks. The handful that does like Broadcast all have a deeper connection to what makes music tick in my eyes/ears.

I know Shadowplay has a very soft spot in his heart for them too, and he's constantly finding echoes of their music in other bands-- not like people searching for MBV2016 clones, but more like bands that cover similar sonic space and ideals. Jane Weaver kind of does, and a number of bands on the Ghost Box label do as well (some of Broadcast's last recordings were collaborations with other Ghost Box people).

I think I am always going to miss Broadcast and regret the unfortunate death of Trish. I am so glad I got to see them a few times, and I will always long for that special thing the band had.

(I sound like some dweeb that has never gotten over some girl that dumped him ten years ago... and that's kind of what it's like for me... but it's not that bad. ;) )
