CV versus Player Jazzmaster

Hey guys. New to the offset fam with my Cobain Jag. I like to tinker and restore as well. But I was looking at JM’s and trying to discern differences between the classic vibe and player series. Players are a few hundred more but I noticed they don’t have the rhythm/lead circuit. But the cheaper CV does. What’s up with that? Anyone have input on either version?
