Some other things I'd do if it were mine (which I know it isn't):
-DEFINITELY stick with mustang trem
-Put in a bridge pickup of some kind ( Jag. bridge pup or maybe an old gold foil or lipstick style pup) Real close to the bridge for brightness
-1 vol and 1 selector switch, no tone
oh and i'd be curious to see how it'd look with a mutant/tele top of the pick guard (that doesn't extend up the top horn)

The only pups I have any real experience with are Jazzmaster pickups and strat/tele single coils. I left out the bridge pup because I didn't really know what to put there.
