Studio monitor stands!! no fitty my desk top

Post by northern_dirt » Tue Apr 01, 2008 6:58 am

I picked up a set of studio monitors that came with these stands..

Problem is I don't have room behind my desk to place them.. so I need a smaller stand
about maybe 5-8 inches tall..

Unless I can find a cheap alternate I think I might be cutting these monitors stands down..

So my questions are

1. Anyone know of any cheap, low monitor stands

2. Do you think  I can use a pipe cutter

To saw these bad boys down?.. I don't think ive ever used one to cut through
an anodized finish before.. (I think thats what its called)

you can't pull your desk out a few more inches from the wall?...(i guess we need a head scratching guy too!)

does the base unscrew from the post? you could just set them on that? enough to keep the vibration transfer to a minimum anyway.

Even if I move the desk, its an L shape and im kinda siting into the corner of it.. so that wont work..
Also I need the speakers up about 5 inches, and just setting them on the basses wont raise them
enough.

I would think a pipe cutter would work fine. Just make sure you can get them back together.
