Yeah, for lack of a better way to put it, the small square surface that’s directly opposite the xlr connector is what you sing into on a 441

Hah, reminds me of my first encounter with a 421. "You're pointing that the wrong way." "Really? You sure?"

The most hilarious thing is when there are stock photos that are used to accompany some sort of educational/informational recording article or post, and the mic is pointing the wrong way. I've seen it more than once... very often the culprit is a 421!
The 421 really does not look like an end-address mic, and I think it's the thick band that runs right across the center of the addressed side of the grille. A person can be forgiven for looking at that and thinking "there's no way the capsule is behind THAT."

Oh, totally. "So you're telling me that placing a foam windscreen in front of the element attenuates high frequencies, but this solid metal band is acoustically transparent?"øøøøøøø wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 11:45 amThe most hilarious thing is when there are stock photos that are used to accompany some sort of educational/informational recording article or post, and the mic is pointing the wrong way. Re: Best Mic for Mid Heavy Vocalist
So, the Sennheiser 441 came in and we took it out and let my wife to a quick test through our practice PA. My goodness what a difference between that and the shure pga 58 we were using. It sounds like her voice is just being grabbed by the mic compared to the shure in which it sounded as if she was in a hole...
Can’t wait to throw it in the interface
