EZDrummer Midi packs.....newbie question

I purchased the rock/pop expansion pack, so with the EZdrummer Vintage and Modern that comes with EZDrummer that's just three sound libraries. How do the midi packs work....?
I figured that the midi packs are just the grooves but they use the sound libraries (drum expansion pack sounds) you already have? Does it work the same though? Same work flow as the expansion packs?
