Question: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface

Hello,

I've got a couple of stereo pedals that I'd love to hear in stereo.
I'm curious if I can use the Scarlett 2i2 - run the left and right inputs into it, and hear stereo through headphones plugged into it?

And then I can run that into Garageband or something if I'd like to record it, right?

Thanks for any advice - I have zero experience with a stereo set up of any kind.

Hey Spooky!
I have that Interface (don’t use it too often though) but no stereo effects right now - only two delays with a dry-out... so I can‘t verify that 100% but theoretically yes! And yes, you should be able to pan them to your liking... in GarageBand or wherever you like!

But I guess there is someone with a stereo-setup and an 2i2 who could tell you more right away!

If you are monitoring with software, yes, you should be able to hear both channels of stereo pedals. Set two mono tracks , pan them oppositely and that's it.

The 2i2 second generation (like mine) also has a "direct monitor" option that works great in some situations (low latency). It bypasses the software and goes straight to the interface's outputs. However, direct monitoring will play in mono. 2i2 third generation should do diret monitoring in stereo, but I'm not quite sure.

Thanks for the replies!

Maybe that's not what I'm looking for then...

I want to be able to have something where I don't need a computer to listen to the exact sound (but that I can if I want)

I wonder if something like the "simplifier" is more what I would need... but dang that's spendy.
I need to do some more research I guess.

You can also set it up to simply record a stereo track in Garageband (input 1+2).
The Scarlett is USB powered, so you'll need a computer though.
