chrisjedijane recordings

Post by chrisjedijane » Fri Mar 09, 2007 6:44 am

...or more specifically, recordings that I've been doing.

I recorded a track for a local band for a video that they were doing. you can see it here:

All in all i was pretty happy with the finished version - that's my beloved Avalon being played on the track too :)

The compression on the video has probably killed the sound quality, but you get the idea.

Cool .. not sure where they're going with the video, but the sound of it is damn nice.

yeah, the video wasn't their idea - they had some guy who approached them and said he wanted to make it :)

cheers for the comments, guys!

For anyone that's interested, I had 2 AKG C414s on the guitar, another 414 on the violin, an AKG D112 and a C414 on the Cello, a Neumann TLM180 on the backing vocals, and a TLM180 and a Blue Kiwi on the main vocals. It was all recorded live with no overdubs, too.

Plug-in wise, I didn't use much - mainly the Digidesign EQ3 for basic EQ stuff - it's not amazing, but it does a half-decent job and is pretty easy on DSP power. I used a Waves reverb ( I can't remember what one) and a Waves Renaissance channel strip in the master for master EQ, compression and a bit of reverb.
