I just finished recording/mixing this little demo, using my brand new Jag HH:

I like the "spooky" guitars - like the Ventures from hell
Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

very nice!! i like it.
you should get yourself better drum samples, because these sound like from a midi-file.
they need to be more rough and less thin.
i like the marilyn manson vocals, very authentic!

The drums are always a weak area for me. I did the programming for them (yes, midi) but they're triggering samples of real drums. It never sounds quite right though.
Can anyone recommend a good drum loop package or something?

Kinda depends what DAW you're using, but I use EZDrummer. It rules.kismet78 wrote:Thanks for the comments!Killamangiro* wrote: very nice!! i like it.

Then you're good. All versions of Ableton are fully supported by EZD. It's a really good package, IMHO, and the humanize feature really gets rid of that "midi" sound. Lots of prepackaged grooves come with it too - I often start with an EZD groove and change it according to my needs.

Yeah, that looks cool. And you say the samples are decent?
I'm going to look in to this. Thanks.

Re: Silver Snakes - Just finished recording this...
If you have the time & inclination to make a clip - that would be awesome!
Re: Silver Snakes - Just finished recording this...
Done. This is just the drum part, but it's a whole song. I recommend listening to a minute or so, then skipping through and finding the fills - they're always the most telling bits. This is a good drum part to listen to, actually - good dynamic range.

By the way, there are a few bars of silence at the start, and the drums start on the 3rd beat of the bar. Don't be thrown!

To say that those drums sound more natural than the drums on my track would be a gross understatement. Thanks mang! I'm going to look into EZDrum for sure.idiotbear wrote: Done. Cool - it's a good drum sampler, for sure. Not too pricey either.
BTW - you might feel moved to buy some of the expansion packs, but I wouldn't if I were you. The standard kit has a choice about about 4 different models for each drum and cymbal, so you can get everything from a fairly poppy kit right through to quite a rock sound. I use the biggest toms and kick, and a slingerland snare. Sounds good to me, and I like my drums heavy and noisy.
