Ahh, ironically one of my friends said he just bought a similar card for his computer and he said he is having problems too. He said it had to do with compatibility issues with Windows Vista --- don't suppose you are running that OS?

No, I'm running XP professional SP2.

The IT guy at work just made fun of me though... "Oh, THAT was your problem. I could have told you that...higher-end sound cards always function independently from Windows". Now I understand what that tech support guy wrote

Maybe that applies to your friend as well?
