Zhivago's Vintage Hotties - 1957 Fender Bassman

I'd love to have an amp like that...I probably wouldn't have any place to crank it at, but still...

gotta love the beautiful 7-layer interleaved Triad output transformer.  That is the heart and soul of the tweed bassman.

freakin beautiful
I'm glad there are a lot of guitar players pursuing technique as diligently as they possibly can, it leaves this whole other area open to people like me.

Damn you all to heck with your GAS-inducing tweed! Yesterday I was playing around with the tweed settings on my V-amp, and got a very close approximation of a sound I'd been looking for for a while. So guess what, now I want the real thing, which I assume is either a closer approximation or exactly the thing I want for those particular parts I have in mind. Meh!

So awesome. I would love one of those in combo form. As is, mine is pretty nice though, has "the sound" well enough :)

and damn, it does crunch up nice. We used to gig around with another band from here called The Near Escape, Their guitarist used one, and got all sorts of nice sounds with no pedals whatseover. I've been jealous ever since....

I'm in tweed heaven already...my amp at home is a tweed deluxe, modded for 6L6s, with a 12" Celestion Gold, housed in a Bassman-size cab :)
