At least I know I won't have to compete with you in the guitar auctions.BenHagerty wrote: Not has good as the other

Mmm... I love those fold-out vibratos. Never played one but they look cool!

I had one of those. The pickup covers had been removed and the tailpiece replaced with a stop tail and the neck had been broken off and repaired, but it was pretty damn cool. The neck was wide and thin, practically a floorboard, so I traded it for the Strat I've had ever since. Oh, and the SG used to be Tommy Bolin's.

there is one, yeah...you can see it in the second pic
there were a few different types of vibrolas...the particular one looks the coolest IMO...it was this folding arm that extends

Re: Zhivago's Vintage Hotties - 1961 Gibson SG/Les Paul
Thanks for reigniting my VOS SG GAS. I used to have a 61 reissue but the neck was skimpy and I kept flexing it enough to throw it out of tune when we played live and I really got into it. I heard the VOS's have larger necks. I also used to have a mid 90s double cut LP Special with a slightly larger neck and that thing was an awesome player with no neck flexing so I know it can be done with a similar neck join....plus I need a humbucker guitar at some point or at least that's what my GAS tells me.
GREAT PICS!

That's nice, but I hate those vibrola contraptions.
I wish to propose a doctrine which may, I fear, appear wildly paradoxical and subversive. The doctrine in question is this: that it is undesirable to believe a proposition when there is no ground whatever for supposing it true. - Bertrand Russell

Two Questions about vibrola's
1) do they tend to inhibit the sustain of the guitar vs stop standard stop-tail / tom?
2) are they funky to setup - (intonate), etc. ?

1) You bet!noirengineer wrote: Two Questions about vibrola's

2) I'm not sure as I never had to do it myself (the guitar belonged to a friend). But they have the reputation of being a pain in the ass to set-up.
