I'm glad there are a lot of guitar players pursuing technique as diligently as they possibly can, it leaves this whole other area open to people like me.

I always kinda liked the look of the Gretsch amps but while the look and sound cool they're nowhere near as well built as old Fenders.
I'd still love one for my bedroom though!

I agree. I looked inside a couple recently and they're a mess. I'd hate to try to switch out a cap or something. Although, I did play a 6150 (IIRC) recently and it was amazingly loud for it's size. All it had was a 6" speaker and a volume control. It was very gritty and was just as loud as my '66 VC that has a 8" Weber.

Oh yeah, great amps with really cool trem (well, on some of them anyway) and interesting speaker compliments (6x9" speakers and so on) but they're rat's nests to say the least.

This listing cracks me up... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... EF:US:1123

You can see the crazy wiring. Also, the seller attempts to use the Jimmy Page/Supro hype.  ;D

Ouch. This is no way to build an amp;

In a similar vein, I really like what Victoria have done to the Gibson GA-40 circuit. The originals were made like Supros but they've done them like late tweeds, good stuff.
