NSD: Prophet 6

Post by BlixaFan » Tue Jan 19, 2021 7:35 am

I recently picked up a Prophet 6 synthesizer after dreaming of owning one, selling something to fund it partially, and then i stumbled across a killer deal I couldn't resist! really worked out in my favor :D
it's amazing. it's extremely musical, sits well in the mix, and i don't miss my Virus C synth at all. In fact, i've come across a few sounds in the Prophet that remind me of the virus. sure, the virus has a huge mod matrix and tons of modulation options, but the Prophet is much more immediate and inspiring. While i love the idea of options and millions of modulation ideas, realistically i want to get sounds quickly, while i'm inspired. no menu diving for me if possible (my ADHD doesn't like it :D :D )

the girlfriend and i found it funny that the wooden ends sort of matched the bedframe too, hence the bed photo 8)

Sweet! Wished I could justify getting one. I think I'd have to sell the Juno to get there and I'm not ready to let ol' 106 go yet.

that's fair! i am very happy with it, and it really has killed all the gas i had for other synths. i'm sure something else will eventually come along that i'll also want, but i think this one is a keeper for the long run!

Happy (belated) NSD! I like the "new classic" synths (Prophet 6 and OB-6) from Sequential, but I wish they had 61 keys instead of 49. I used to think 37, 44 and 49 key synths were "cooler" than 61, 76 or 88 key models, but I've found myself running out of keys when composing on my 49 key MIDI controller...

Thanks! I am still completely in love with it. Although i grew up playing piano (prior to switching to guitar), i have never minded to shorter keybeds.

i just released a "companion" album to my upcoming full length to be released later this winter/early spring 2021. it is ALL Prophet 6, no other synths.
it is a soundtrack to a film that doesn't exist, a tribute to 70s Italian horror films and the soundtracks that made them what they are.
