March of the RI Monosynths: KARP Odyssey v. MS20m v. Roland SE-02

When I think of the MS-20, I think of this.

I spent some time playing it last night and it's kind of an angry little guy. Buzzy and squelchy and gnarly. I don't think I'd want it as my only monosynth but looking forward to figuring out where it fits in. I had a Frostwave Resonator pedal once upon a time and I loved having access to the MS-20 filters before the resissues were available. That's mostly what I'm hoping to use it for, as an effects generator.

I'm honestly sort of surprised that this seems to be the popular perception of the MS20. Like, it certainly CAN get those sounds quite easily with the dual filters, but with a bit of reverb and delay I find the pure sounds of it also quite melancholy and beautiful.

LOVE DAF. They also used an Arp Odyssey. Whenever you hear oscillator sync on their tunes, it's the Arp.
They also ran the synths through guitar amps per Conny Plank's suggestion.
