It is. The $5k price tag hurts, but of course I've wanted one since I was a kid and this is the version probably worth getting, with all the modern appointments and spring loaded centering on the pitch wheel. Between this and the KARP 2600, I'd be in hog heaven.Maggieo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 3:14 pmMinimoog is back!!! Sad really because I have professional connections that could probably get me a good deal on one.

Welp, after a lot of waffling around I just plunked down on an MS20mini and the SQ64. Should be bleep-bloopin' by Christmas.
Thanks all!

I think you’ll dig it. I had that combo for a few years and really enjoyed it.stevejamsecono wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 8:24 amWelp, after a lot of waffling around I just plunked down on an MS20mini and the SQ64. Should be bleep-bloopin' by Christmas.

Certainly would be a better use of his money, especially considering some of the difficulties Moog have had over the years. Then again, he'd probably ruin them too.

I've spent a lot of time playing around with the se-02 and they are fantastic my dude.
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

Dang. I've had it just under 24 hours and have barely scratched the surface of the patching aspect, but the basic sounds of this thing are pretty impressive. I know the MS-20 has a reputation as great for 'crazy' sounds but even just setting up a basic one OSC lead sound with minimal treatment is pretty inspiring. I might have to do a demo vid that highlights that, because it seems to be an underrated aspect of it.

I couldn't find it quickly but there is a video on youtube where the guy from once upon a synth makes the MS-20 sound incredibly beautiful (You should check out that channel, there are several videos with the MS-20 and the guy is great). That synth can do so much more than only the super gnarly and aggressive sounds. It has a very lyrical and beautiful quality and can be very expressive.
Cool! Good to hear you're happy! I wish you a ton of fun exploring the sounds of your new synth!

And man, some tasty stuff he got there and without even engaging the patch bay. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me

a vintage MS20 is the best guitar fuzz effect ever. Someone needs to remake a proper ESP ckt today.

It’s almost as if all this talk about the MS-20 on here inspired the craigslist gods to smile on me. Drove down to Greenville last night for a $150 MS-20 Mini. It’s so tiny!

Still loving mine. I got the SQ64 during Korg's big blowout but I have yet to figure out exactly what to do with it yet. Need to spend some more time fiddling...

Re: March of the RI Monosynths: KARP Odyssey v. MS20m v. Roland SE-02
I spent some time playing it last night and it's kind of an angry little guy. Buzzy and squelchy and gnarly. I don't think I'd want it as my only monosynth but looking forward to figuring out where it fits in. I had a Frostwave Resonator pedal once upon a time and I loved having access to the MS-20 filters before the resissues were available. That's mostly what I'm hoping to use it for, as an effects generator.
