I bought a Piano 27 brand new for like $50 a few years back... now they go for over $100!

I also acquired an old Soprano like the one earlier in this thread for about $20.

They tend to go sharp for whatever reason.

Add a little delay, play some dub.

...or if your a hippie ( :D ), go to the 3:30 mark of this video for a nice folk arrangement utilizing the melodica:

I got mine from Target, but it was only sold online, not in stores.  It was the least expensive I could find for a new one.  Sounds really good.

I have wanted one ever since seeing Medeski Martin & Wood drop their instruments and come to the front of stage playing "acoustic" and toy versions of their usual instruments.  John Medeski was playing melodica un-mic'ed and the whole crowd was quieter than I had experienced in any venue.  They sounded awesome.  Talk about a dude who can rock a melodica.

Pioneers! Much of their output still sounds good, I still play Looks Like e're shy one horse, Moon Is Blue and Baby... when i'm Djing.  Good sleeves too and they also recorded probably the only good Football (soccer) related track ever); The Official Colourbox World Cup Theme.  I know some people will big up World In Motion but that is a) utter gash and b) England supporting and as a proud Scot I can't get behind that.  Colourbox were also involved in perhaps the only UK number one I like; Anitina the AA side of Pump Up the Volume by MARRS.

8) I remember a mate buying the MARRS 12" and playing it to death in his bedroom one day, we eventually persuaded him to play the B-side and I was pleasantly shocked. I think the full title was something gramatically odd like 'Anitina, the first time I see she dance' by AR Cane & Colourbox. I got him to tape it on a single-length tape I had (on both sides) so I could listen to it in my car without having to FF to find the track :D

i have one of those. they look so cool but i think one of these with "usual" piano keys would have been easier to play for me.

And the non dub version which is surely one of the greatest pop songs ever (the Colourbox version is amazing too though for full effect the seven inch one best)
o my sweet. sweet dub... i love this.

heres one of my favorite uses of the instrment, its like 5 min in but still, the whole track is cool so its worth  it.

I also have a Hohner soprano. Cost me like £10 (about $17-$18). Very cool.

I have a few and play them regularly. I'd almost go as far as to say they're my second instrument. Seriously. I love them. Great for acoustic jams. People always get a kick outta it when I whip it out.

Can anybody tell me where to look for tuning files, preferably in Germany, or at least Europe. They are the same as used for accordions etc.
You see, I have two melodicas of the same kind. It’s a cheaper italian brand, but I like the sound of the big, light plastic case and the playability of the big keys. Unfortunately the tuning is only good for certain keys, and they’re too far apart to play in unisono as well.

have contacted hohner already? they produce (obviously) 1000000% of all melodicas as well as accordions, so i bet they produce tuning files too.
my melodica is badly mistuned, but i wouldn't dare to try tuning it. sounds horribly complicated and time consuming. i'd rather buy a new one. (hohner has this limited edition with red housing and black keys. looks beautiful!)
