Yeah. I know. But a keyboard that is hooked to a computer that models the sound is called a midi keyboard.

But then I was looking of vids of different programs like fruity loops and it sounds bad

i was in the same boat that you were in, but then gave up on programming midi drum machines.

I bought an electronic kit....a yamaha dtsexpress III...got it off of flea-bay for not much and I couldn't be happier with it. It took me a while to learn how to play it, but the sound is so much more natural and real sounding than any drum machine can come up with....but if you are going for that, have at it!!!!

The M Audio Axiom seems interesting.

The Axiom seems fine, but as mentioned before, it has no sounds. If the keyboard has good velocity sensitivity I'm sure it'll be excellent; all those controllers are quite useful. I miss those in my M-Audio Keystation 88es.

You'd be able to trigger everything with that keyboard. I'm very partial to Addictive Drums, but there are plenty (and cheaper) things out there. If you just need kick, snare, hihat and cymbal (the Deerhoof way ) the free demo of Addictive Drums should sort you out.

It has no maracas or tambourine, though, which for some reason I find really annoying .

BTW, I made this with a MIDI keyboard and Addictive Drums. So far a lot of people (especially drummers) hate it, but I don't know whether that's the drumming per se or that is is because all of them are straight 4/4 disco beat people, which, in turn, I hate.

Much good advice has been given but the main thing to remember is that 99% of attempts by rockers to do dance music are utter garbage or even utter Garbage! Basically any old freesoft piece of crap can do it if you have the skills. However if you want to weld beats to your music get a real feel for it or you'll be heading down Killers avenue; a very undesirable neighbourhood. If you don't like or listen to dance or electronic music I'd give it a wide berth because it's nowhere near as easy as folk think and DJ's can smell it, I certainly can. It's like Helvetica, is hard to be that simple.

i was looking for a drum machine a while back and i found the cheapest (meaning free) option to be a hacked version of ableton live with all the plugins. it has a bunch of kits that are copies of old roland/boss drum machines plus a few other simulated kits and loads of drum samples. i want a roland spd 20 but free vs 400 plus dollars pushed it on the back burner.

I want s synth that can do the following:

piano, a nice triangle sound, a good digital drum sound and a nice real drum sound. And for around $500

My vote is Logic Studio + an Akai MPK49 or MPK25

i dont have a mac but if i did i would be more inclined to use logic over ableton.
