Vintage size Mustang trem arms?

Post by jammyb » Tue Jan 24, 2023 10:45 am

Just got a ‘77 Mustang. No trem arm though.
I’ve been told that modern trem arms don’t fit the hole on the vintage “cigar”.
Is there any options besides trying to buy a vintage am on Reverb?
Is anyone making vintage spect arms?
Thanks.

The cheapest way is to buy one of the modern ones and use a file or heavy grit silicon carbide sandpaper to reduce the diameter in the part that goes into the cigar. It's not too tricky but a little annoying.

Or pay the vintage tax online and buy an OG one.

Where are you located? I might have one kicking about in my parts drawer (maybe)*

*EDIT: Just checked, looks like I gave it away already. Sorry
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Keep you eye open for the Staytrem mustang trem arm.
These are awesome.. unfortunately out of production since more than 5 years but they show of every now and then on the used market.

Never understood why they discontinued them as they appear to be highly sought-after

It won’t take many people to inflate the 2nd market price. If they sold 40 over a 5 year period, hardly worth the effort I’d imagine.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

The Allparts arm is a direct fit

Fender® vintage Mustang® and USA Mustang®. Allparts BP 0274-001

The angled bend isn’t quite the same as the original Mustang arm but it works just fine

Also check if the grub screw is still present in the end of the cigar tube

Yes, here a high professional video about getting a modern arm into an old Mustang ;D :

I have a cream white and black tip staytrem Mustang arm on two Mustangs.
They are okay, but I like a good setup with original (or aftermarket) arm a bit more.
The look of the staytrem arms destroys the whole Mustang design a little bit (in my opinion).
But, they are recommendable definitely!
