Hi guys,
Was wondering if anyone would be able to offer some advice on what would be a good price for this guitar?
It seems that a lot of it isn't original;
Guard
Tuners
Wiring Harness
Upper plate and volume and tone controls
Bridge.
They are asking £10k+ which i think is pretty high, id guess that around £4/5k is closer?
Any advice or comments are welcome!
Cheers!

£5k sounds about right. But lefty Jags are super rare so prices are impossible to predict. An all original ‘67 Mustang sold in days for £5k not long ago. But then I picked up a ‘76 Mustang with no case & non-original pickups for £1400 a few months back.
If it had an original guard I’d be tempted to say £6k & be ready to pay another £500 on top.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Hopefully some Cobain nut doesn’t buy it, route it for humbuckers and hang it on their wall. I’ve seen a couple 60’s Jags given that treatment lately and this one’s a lefthander.

Agreed RE rarity but $13,000 is way too high for something that is 50% non original. I did offer 5/6k for it but was turned down sadly as they wanted closer to 10k for it.
Will just have to keep waiting. One day i'll find one

Yep its a major problem, the person who buys it will either be a Cobain fan, which I am, but not enough to butcher a 60s lefty, or someone like me who is a lefty and plays/collects vintage fender.
I think I saw the jag you are thinking of online recently, 60s one which has a couple of dimarzios dropped into it, didn't look good.

I saw this listed recently as well. While a lefty 60s jaguar is indeed a rarity, it's sad that an instrument like this will probably languish on the "listed 2 years ago" pile because a seller is waiting for the 1-million buyer to come along and a player will not be able to swing the asking price. It is what it is but hopefully a better fit of a vintage lefty jag will come along your way.

Yeah thats it, its not being aimed at a player at all. I don't think offering 4/5k is a lowball or offensive price for this. Thank you for the positive thoughts

us leftys have a tough time out here, especially in the vintage market.

Well I know this is out of the price range timbo86, or I assume it is, but this little beauty just popped up on Reverb. A lot more rare and collectable than the sunburst you were asking about. Even at this price, I'm guessing someone will snatch it up to flip...

Oh man, it was gone within an hour of listing. As I said, even at that price, someone probably paid asking and they are planning on "flipping" for a reasonable $16,500...

I'm not a huge fan of this "flipping" culture. I get people need to earn a living etc but its a bit crazy with guitars, and especially lefties.
I saw a Cobain LPB mustang on ebay for ages. Ended up going for £750/800ish and then got re listed after being cleaned by someone else on reverb for £1750+

Agree 100% on the flipping, particularly of lefty stuff.
Sure it’s legal, but occupational flippers get no respect from me. I view them as parasites.

Agreed. Just this morning a 2012 KC mustang has been listed on ebay for $6999 and the reasoning behind it is that Kurts actual mustang is being sold at auction. Not sure how the two are linked but it has gone crazy.
