I wonder if it needed the extra range of the Bass VI bridge so it would intonate with the slanted frets?

Good catch. The Bass VI base is probably there because the neck has a slightly shorter scale length than the normal 25.5", assuming the distance from the neck pocket to the bridge is the same you'd have in a standard 25.5" guitar, but CCOffset didn't mention measuring the latter.

Much wider than the typical offset bridge base for more intonation range.

1" vs 3/4" from memory.

The slant fret V2 Marauder was exactly 25.25". I thought that was significant since I've never seen another Fullerton made Fender guitar with that scale length.
