i believe it's only 2 posts that have been changed.DaveC wrote:Tuners are mixed too....
i asked for the same things. am waiting.DocCarlson wrote:I'd want to see the patent numbers on the tailpiece and I'd want a look under that pickguard.

I'd try to get a better photo of that neckplate also.
i think if the body/hardware turns out to be legit, it might be well worth the $750, right?
i mean, you know me, and how i like 'em!
stay tuned, thanks!

Someone down there seems to have been really into changing out the fretboards back in the day. Could all your examples be from the same dastardly modder, or perhaps this was this a widespread practice?

Euh, yeah, looks pretty dirty in a bad way. $750 might be "priced right" for "what it is"...which is a definite hack job of dubious origin. I try to keep my excitement in check to avoid making bad decisions... but sometimes can't help myself

Any idea if the pickups are original?
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Good question. Assuming they are, then it's worth ~ $750 tops even if you threw the neck away. Which would probably be a good idea.

The bodged-up fretboard would be an absolute deal-breaker for me, I'm afraid.

I see what you mean but wouldn't the body with original pickups/hardware be worth $750? Pat could always find a vintage (or not) neck later, especially since it's already essentially a partsmaster, right?mezcalhead wrote:The bodged-up fretboard would be an absolute deal-breaker for me, I'm afraid.

well fuck it, i'm doing it.
it IS a 1976 jazzmaster with some weird history but that's JUST my thing!
i might have a new fretboard made for it, and i found an amazing good and not too-expensive place in mexico city... they're making a black B&B neck for me, which i'll be picking up this weekend. they said they might be able to do only a fretboard too, so when Gonkulator sends me my '72 neck back (or this one) we can try out without too much risk.
