Looks like a really nice refinish and a very tasteful burst. If the original pickguard is unasable, a Lavaguard would look great.

So I taped the two pickguards trying to align the screw holes as much as possible and marked the openings with the permanent marker.

Then I carefully enlarged them with a set of files I just purchased. Here is the result 8)

Where did you get the new pickguard? How much did it differ in appearance from the original? I'm looking to replace the pickguard on mine as part of restoring it to correct-spec pickups. Unfortunately, the original pickguard was butchered for a HB to be installed, and can't be re-used.

As I wrote, it is the old pickguard with enlarged holes.
I checked as recommended in this thread Lava guards and find them beautiful, but decided first to try and give a chance to the original one. Luckily it worked out
