Anyone recognize this 1964 Daphne Blue Jaguar?
Hello~ I bought this refinished jaguar a few month ago from Reverb(may not be a good price after 2nd thought..). It's my first vintage guitar and i'm so impressed by it's playability. And it sounds cool expecially with distortion. I think it must been through a lot, maybe anyone recognize it and can tell me more about it? Like tone, etc. I'm wondering if i can get a even better sounding vintage jaguar. Tks!
It's pickups were rewounded by Lindy Fralin. I found the pickups were connected out of phase. It produce a special thin sound in the middle position, maybe someone like it, but not for me..So I ask a luthier to change it to be In phase. But after that seems the bridge pickup itself will lose some highs. So I change the wiring back to be out of phase.. Wondering anyone have similar experience?
And there's one interesting fact that i found it sounds way better with it's original bridge. I've try to put a mastery and a staytrem in it, they both sound dull to me, lack of low and high. I didn't expect a vintage bridge will affect the sound so much, it's like magic to me lol. Just my own experience, more comments are welcome~

There is no visible picture, so I doubt it.

I agree - the vintage bridge (with steel saddles as opposed to zinc, and tighter construction than the reissues) is best to me of the ones I've experienced, as far as sound and stability; have a couple on my guitars, obliviates the need for a Mastery/Staytrem etc.raymanrock wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 7:05 pmAnd there's one interesting fact that i found it sounds way better with it's original bridge. Damn that's gorgeous. If you think you paid too much, let me know if you ever want to sell it.

Tks! It's great and the refinish is very old. Although i'm thinking about getting a original finished one. Will let you know if I decide to sell it.Highnumbers wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 9:27 amDamn that's gorgeous. If you think you paid too much, let me know if you ever want to sell it.

I had a ‘62 Jazzmaster with pickups rewound by Fralin. They sounded great, IMO. There is a bit of variation in vintage pickups, since they were hand wound. The Fralin rewinds were in the same ballpark as other original winds I have owned. It sounds like there might be something going on with the wiring on yours. Have you confirmed that the wiring is vintage correct, other than being out of phase?
