It probably has less to do with the Hahn and more to do with the bottom line, they seem to be a relatively large dealer with all the inherent overheads and such. It's a numbers game.

I'd never heard of them prior to this thread.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 4:28 pmThat's so strange. Is Hahn not a known builder? They have no problem stocking other similar brands.

I knew about them, because Jim Campilongo has a signature Tele style model from them.
I guess Jim is somewhat underground, but his model got a good bit of hype from the TGP crowd.

Huh, well there you go. The only Campilongo signature model I am (well...was until now) aware of was the Fender Custom Shop jobbie based on his old '59.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 5:19 pmI knew about them, because Jim Campilongo has a signature Tele style model from them.andy_tchp wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 5:14 pmI'd never heard of them prior to this thread.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 4:28 pm

It was Jim who turned me onto Hahn guitars, along with seeing Walter Becker play them.
I got one of the first Model Cs; for $1,500.00US, it's as good as a $3-4K Fender Custom Shop Tele (cough, cough, the Fender Jim C Model).
It's lovely:

And Jim signed the back of the pickguard, too.

Sorry to hear that, that's disappointing. But I like to believe that gear makes its way to us (or doesn't) for a reason. For all you know, that JM sounded way worse than it looked, or had a weird neck profile that would have made your hand cramp up after 30 minutes.
Maybe I just tell myself these things to make myself feel better, but it works.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that, Maggie. One thing I try and remember at times like this (because let's face it, it happens quite a lot when you're trying to barter and scrounge up cash for certain gear), is that it gives me a moment to really assess whether I wanted to sell a particular item or not. If the thing I was pining for is still something I really want, then I'll go through the trouble of trying to sell stuff to make it happen. Since my allotted gear funds are slim compared to the rest of my budgetary demands, I tend to buy and sell things. There are upsides and downsides, obviously, but one thing I kind of like is it keeps me from hoarding, and by its very nature, allows me a stable of instruments (etc) that get used all the time. It really bothers me to see a layer of dust on my gear.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

And I really did get a case of The Red Mist when I saw that JM.

As always Todd, excellent bits of wisdom dropped there. Thanks, my friend.Telliot wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 8:19 amThat sucks. Sorry to hear that, Maggie.
