NGD: 1964 Lake Placid Blue Jaguar

Just wanted to share a new arrival to my house this week. It's a late(ish) 1964 Jaguar in original Lake Placid Blue metallic finish and matching headstock. I'm calling it late due to the serial number as well as the presence of pearl dots, whereas my earlier '64 Jag had clay dots and a lower serial. The neck on this one is a bit slimmer as well, but not by that much.

After raising the bridge pickup a bit, I'm really loving the both pickups in this one. The bridge has just the right amount of brightness and clarity and the neck is nice and sweet/chunky. The only thing I'm not digging so much is the out-of-phase sound with both pickups on. My previous '64 Jag sounded noticeably better on that setting, but I can get most of that sound from my Strat.

Here are some pics that I took on Thursday (actually, the first pic was from Wednesday night when I first got it and was taking it for a spin). Enjoy!

Phenomenal! One of my all time favourite looks for a Jaguar.
Also, what out of phase setting do you speak of?
Jags don't have that setting, unless you meant the strangle switch.

+1 on ditching the buzzkill

Beautiful guitar!

Agree with the above comment - your pickups shouldn’t be out of phase, unless someone has changed one or altered the wiring at some point.

:D The buzz stop was on there when I bought it. I'm planning to try it without it when I change the strings. You guys are a lot more knowledgeable on offsets than I am, so it sounds like there's a good chance that I'll like it more without it. :)

Hmm, I looked at the pots and the wiring seemed fine, but perhaps I need to check the switches. I'll report back. I'll try and put up a quick clip as well to demonstrate. It just sounds more choked and weaker than my other Jag that I had when both are engaged.

Thanks to all for all the nice comments!

Here are a few shots of the switch wiring. I'm still trying to find a clear image of original Jaguar wiring on the Google machine. :)
