NGD: ‘64 Jaguar
Just joined the forum and have spent the last day or two drooling over pics here.
I recently purchased this ‘64 Charcoal Frost Metallic Jaguar and thought I’d share.
Story goes like this: (sellers story so who knows for sure)...
Brothers guitar that was purchased new in ‘64 in sunburst and returned to factory for refin in ‘65. Supposedly lived in Fullerton and hand delivered to Fender.
A couple red flags for me but who knows, first...no “primer” under paint. Second, replaced bridge pickup with who knows what. No stamp on body unlike stamp on neck.
What do ya think?

I counted 28, but yeah.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

I'm not really knowledgable on body and neck marks, but the CFM shade looks correct to me, you can see it has yellowed a bit giving it a green hue, but under the guard there are some "intact" parts where you can see it clearly

That was my take as well. I should get myself a blacklight and see how it looks...was recently made aware of the benefits. I was really expecting to see a stamp on the body like the neck has...

Re: NGD: ‘64 Jaguar
Probably my favorite CFM I've ever seen. It has just the right amount of yellowing. I'm not an expert but it looks legit to me. I looked at some photos from my Jazzmaster, taken the last time I had it apart. Most of the body markings are across the treble side of the neck pocket - exactly where your Jag has that stripe of CFM paint. My instrument is much newer than yours, but if they're doing it roughly the same way, your guitar's markings might have just been covered up during the refin.

that is such a nice color!
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

Wow, for some reason I don’t think I’ve ever thought about CFM on a Jag. It looks absolutely killer with that tort!

Wow! Just wow! A true beauty!
I always thought Charcoal Frost Metallic mist go with white or mint guards - but it really does look amazing with that Tort!

Re: NGD: ‘64 Jaguar
It makes me want to buy a couple more in different colors now:) I’ve had an original red one for decades and when this one turned up I couldn't resist.
Spent some time on this most excellent forum looking at Zhivagos hotties and holy cripe!
Also found the headstock decal page with the different Pat. numbers and it has confirmed that the neck was refinished in late ‘65 ( judging by what decal would have been “in stock” at the time )
